Eclipse (Updated)
Hello dear readers,
I updated the audio of both Eclipse 01 and Eclipse 01 ALT. It’s still 128 Kbps mp3’s because I know about the existence of some softwares that can download anything from Tumblr, Soundcloud, etc… So, this way they end up with a copy of my tracks sounding most likely… Crappy !
Don’t ask me which software it is, I don’t use it and feel this unfair.
If peoples say they love music, they should buy it.
It always impress me to see peoples protesting about how they pay too much taxes, gaz, food and many other things but never they would stole gaz from the station or food from the supermarket for example…
And when it comes to paying between 99 cents and 1,50 euros for a track that they supposedly love… They stole it.
What an incredible level of courage…
Anyway, what’s hiding behind ‘Eclipse’ ?
Well, I was starring at the moon on a random evening and seeing it appear and disappear behind the dark clouds of winter. It reminded me of an experience I had around my 20’s in Lille (France).
I was just waking up from a party I played at, still a bit drunk to be fully honest. Other friends was all still sleeping at various improvised beds all around the flat. I had to take a tramway for a few kilometers to be back home. That day, there was a sun eclipse and many peoples was in the streets looking at the sky waiting for the eclipse to happen equipped with special glasses to protect eyes.
I didn’t had those glasses but the ambience in the streets was becoming darker and darker, a never seen dark grey light announcing the eclipse already.
I took my tramway and we was all looking outside at what was happening. The black came, it was like midnight at 10 AM, I’ve been able to see the sun hiding behind the moon for the fraction of a second only due to the fact I didn’t had those special glasses.
When light came back to it’s normal state, all peoples in the tramway had a smile on their face. It was a very special moment.
So, this is what Eclipse project is about. The influence of the moon.
To record the tracks, I start Maschine, look at the moon, the clouds, the sky… And I start a pattern, a second one, etc…
There will be four tracks and their respective alternatives. Basic tracks are classic 4/4 techno and alternatives are live ‘by hand’ play and recording using the exact same sounds.
Then I edit details to obtain a more precise / solid end result.
The whole thing is trying to capture this dark grey ambience I experienced something like 15 years ago.
More to come…
